BASICS CARE WITH YOUR LEATHER SHOES

Avoid getting your shoes wet: They should never be washed with a lot of water, let alone soaked. The ideal is to perform only cleaning with a damp cloth and neutral soap. In case the shoe really gets wet, like rain, for example, let it dry naturally in the shade, never in the sun.

Always moisturize the leather. Before that, check if your shoe is really clean. These specific and suitable products for this can be found in shoe stores.

Store your shoes in the correct place. After having contact with the feet, the leather needs “air”. In the face of this, store it in an airy place, never in very hot or humid places. This can disfigure the leather.

Note: It's no use following all these rules and not sanitizing your feet correctly. Make sure your feet are clean and sweat-free.

WHAT TO DO WHEN LEATHER SHOES GET WET?

As soon as you arrive in a dry and safe place, make sure your shoes have removable insoles; if so, remove immediately and let that item dry individually, in addition to the insoles, also remove the laces, as dividing the pieces makes drying faster and more complete.

Wipe the leather with a clean, dry cloth so that all excess moisture and possible dirt is eliminated.

If the sole is also leather, use a clean, dry cloth as well to start the water-drying process. Always rotate the side where the shoes are lying while drying, or if you prefer, you can hang them on a clothesline or clothes hanger, which also has a positive effect.

Wrap pages of printed newspapers, a material considered effective for absorbing moisture: choose sheets with fewer colors in your printout, crumple them up completely in the shape of paper balls and insert them inside your shoes for a few minutes.

The sun and heat are elements that can dry out leather, so choose a place with plenty of ventilation and shade to let your shoes dry. Do not use a hair dryer or clothes dryer. Leather, when wet and exposed to heat, can undergo a process similar to “frying” and then shrink.

After a while and with the shoes already drier, pieces of wood can be placed inside them, as they are also indicated to absorb moisture.

WHAT NOT TO DO WITH A LEATHER PRODUCT!

Do not think that good cleaning depends on the force applied to the material used to brush the product, as this attitude can scratch and damage your piece.

Do not wet your leather products, because, contrary to what many still believe, water is not this material's best friend.

Never leave your leather product in the sun.

Do not store your leather products in hot and/or humid places, as this could disfigure them.

Avoid wear the same shoes two days in a row.

Remember to wash and clean your feet too before putting on the shoes to compose your look.
